9th October 2025 - The Iranian regime’s judiciary has handed down a death sentence to political prisoner Zahra Tabari, who is currently detained in Lakan Prison in Rasht. The verdict was issued by the Revolutionary Court of Rasht, headed by Ahmad Darvish Goftar, known for his role in oppressive rulings. During the proceedings, her fate was sealed in a 10-minute trial conducted via video conference, during which she was denied access to a lawyer of her own choosing. Her family stated that the entire proceeding was a “pre-determined show.”Born in Babol, Zahra was arrested in April 2025 after security forces stormed her home in Rasht. This is not her first experience with imprisonment—she had previously been detained in June 2022, spending three months in Lakan Prison before being placed under house arrest for fifteen months, monitored with an ankle bracelet.

14th July 2025 - United Nations Special Rapporteur on human rights in Iran, Mai Sato, has raised serious concern over the potential “enforced disappearance” of detainees from Tehran’s Evin Prison, including Iranian–Swedish academic Ahmadreza Djalali.

In a post on X on 4 July, Sato said she continues to receive reports of worsening conditions for prisoners transferred from Evin to the Greater Tehran Penitentiary and Qarchak Prison, following Israeli airstrikes.

The British Committee for Iran Freedom has issued an urgent appeal following alarming reports that five political prisoners in Iran have been transferred to the notorious Qezelhessar Prison, raising fears of imminent execution. This development underscores growing concerns about the regime’s escalating use of capital punishment to silence dissent and crush organised opposition. The following statement from the BCFIF reads as follows:

18th June 2025 - Tehran’s Evin Prison has been placed under full lockdown by Iran’s Special Unit forces following heightened regional tensions triggered by Israeli military action. Ward 8, which houses numerous political and ideological prisoners, is reportedly included in the siege. Eyewitness accounts describe a heavy deployment of Special Unit forces restricting prisoner movement, severing phone contact with families, and halting access to outdoor exercise.

London – July 16, 2025 – At the UK Parliament, MPs, Peers, legal experts, and human rights advocates met to address the worsening crisis in Iran and the Middle East. Organised by the British Committee for Iran Freedom, the conference promoted the “Third Option: Regime Change by Iran’s People and Resistance,” rejecting both foreign military intervention and appeasement of the regime. Held shortly after a 12-day conflict that nearly sparked regional war, speakers from across the political spectrum backed the Iranian people’s democratic aspirations and endorsed Mrs Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan for a future republic.

18th June 2025 - At least 10 prisoners were killed and over 30 injured in a brutal crackdown at Kermanshah’s Dizelabad Prison in Iran on 14 June 2025. The violence erupted following heightened tensions sparked by nearby explosions reportedly caused by an airstrike, which led to widespread panic among inmates.

Prisoners attempted to contact their families, fearing for their lives, prompting a violent response from prison authorities and the regime’s special forces.
